Privacy/PII

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is authorized by sections 8(a) and 7(j) of the Small Business Act and codified at 13 CFR Part 124 to determine eligibility for the 8(a) Business Development (BD) Program. All applicants seeking 8(a) certification must complete the 8(a) application, which is required to be filed electronically. Any Personally Identifiable Information (PII) you provide on the electronic system will be used only for the purpose of determining eligibility for the 8(a) program. SBA will protect the information you provide in accordance with the Privacy Act of 1974 and will only share information provided as required by law. For more information regarding the protection of such information, refer to SBA’s Privacy Act Systems of Record Notice at Privacy Act System of Records Notices (SORNs) | U.S. Small Business Administration (sba.gov), specifically SBA 30: Government Contracting and Business Development System (Mod). The information requested is voluntary. However, failure to provide the requested information may result in SBA’s inability to determine your eligibility for the 8(a) BD program.

Designation/Authorization to Access System

SBA’s electronic system enables you to organize, complete and submit your application for 8(a) certification to the SBA. SBA secures the information you provide using certify.SBA.gov. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of any username and password you create for any and all activities that occur under your account. You agree to protect and keep confidential your account information including user IDs, passwords, PINs or any other means of accessing your account. If you disclose any of the foregoing information, you assume all risks and losses associated with such disclosure. If you permit any other person to access your account or account information, you are responsible for any resulting activities.
